The Two Sergeants Moments Before the Attacker Was Tasered

One ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knifeman was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a blade to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver after a road collision in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Policeman knifed," the constable could be heard saying over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam recording shared by the agency showed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.

He struck the officer who lost balance and fell to the ground, before Sgt Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being multiple times hit with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a clear shot, ending the struggle to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide help on my throat now, I got knifed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell sustained two lacerations to his throat and more wounds to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.

The department reported Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stop his colleague's blood loss before medical personnel came.

The latest award comes after the trio of policemen were granted departmental Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area Police Federation in spring 2024.

They additionally received a North West Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

"The actions of the entire team in the end rescued each other and resulted in no civilians suffered any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, per the department.
